“Black mold removal” is a common search when dark spots appear on walls, ceilings or other materials. Color alone does not establish the type of mold, the extent of the problem or the appropriate cleanup plan.
Focus on the property concern
Describe the location, approximate visible area, any musty odor and signs of dampness. A professional can discuss whether assessment, testing or remediation is appropriate for the circumstances. Ask what each proposed step will establish before paying for it.
What not to expect from a phone call

Ask for a clear cleanup scope
Ask how affected materials will be handled, how moisture will be addressed and whether follow-up assessment or repairs are separate. Avoid choosing a provider based only on a dramatic label or a promise to eliminate all mold forever.
